What is ALPHA?
ALPHA is a real-time mobile money tool. It's a revolutionary service that lets you spend money from your mobile device and provides instant feedback on your transactions and spending patterns.
At ALPHA, we think about money differently. Life is not about "budgeting," it's about choices. While other money management tools bury you in spreadsheets, budgets and pie charts, we help you connect to your money as you're spending it. We provide you with the information you need to spend, save and live smarter.

How does ALPHA work?
ALPHA provides a digital bank account, paired with an innovative app, to help you track your finances in real time and manage your overall spending.
Who can use ALPHA?
To use ALPHA Smart Banking you must be at least 18 years of age, a US resident and have a valid Social Security Number.
Is ALPHA a bank?
ALPHA is a financial service provider. We partner with Evolve Bank & Trust, along with other vendors, to provide digital banking services.
Can I use ALPHA without signing up for the Smart Bank Account?
Yes, you can try ALPHA and track all your spending from your existing accounts. Simply select the bottom option "Add Existing Accounts" during sign up. You can always apply for ALPHA Smart Banking at any time after that by selecting the '$' icon at the bottom of the home screen.
What kind of mobile device do I need to use ALPHA?
ALPHA can be used on any Android (4.1 and above) and iOS (8 and above) mobile device.
How can I add money to my ALPHA Account?
We suggest logging into your other bank accounts through ALPHA, you’ll be able to see activity at those other banks as well as move funds between them. There are several other ways to add money to an ALPHA Account. From Direct Deposit to Check Deposit and by other means. These options are presented to you at signup and you can always access them at any time from the 'Add Money' option.
You can email yourself a Direct Deposit form directly from your ALPHA mobile app! Simply select "Direct Deposit" from the "Add Money" menu, followed by "Email me a Direct Deposit Form". This will send a Direct Deposit form with your account and routing numbers, along with a voided check, to the email associated with your ALPHA account. Direct deposits are available by 11AM EST on the postdate set by your employer.
Transfer money to ALPHA
Login to an existing bank account and transfer money to your ALPHA Account. You'll need your ALPHA Account # and Routing # available in the App. Transfers take between 2-3 business days.
Deposit a Check in the App
Deposit checks using your phone, directly in the app. Deposits are available as noted in the app.
Deposit cash on to your ALPHA account
Us any deposit-taking ATM on our network to deposit cash into your account.
Are my deposits safe?
Yes. All deposits are made with our partner Evolve Bank & Trust and are insured to the FDIC limit (currently $250,000). FDIC insurance guarantees the safety of your deposits against the failure of both ALPHA and Evolve Bank & Trust.
Can I deposit cash or foreign currency?
We do not currently accept cash deposits or foreign currency. If you attempt to deposit money in any currency other than USD, it will be returned to the originating account or sender.
What if there are issues with my deposit?
For any issue with a deposit please contact email@example.com.
Do you charge for deposits?
No. We do not charge anything for depositing money into your account.
How can I pay for purchases?
Swipe your ALPHA card everywhere VISA™ is accepted.
Use your card number to make online or bill payments at any online store that accepts VISA.
Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay:
Add your ALPHA card to digital wallets to pay with ALPHA right from your phone. Simply launch Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay on your phone, enter your card details, and complete the verification steps. When paying in stores, simply hold your phone near the payment terminal to complete the payment.
Do I have a daily spending limit?
Your ALPHA Spending account is restricted to the amount of funds present in the account. The maximum amount that you may use for the purchase of goods and services is limited to $10,000 in any 24-hour period.
How do I withdraw cash?
Your ALPHA card functions as an ATM card and can be used to withdraw cash from your account. You can withdraw cash with no additional fee at MoneyPass surcharge-free ATMs. To find the nearest MoneyPass surcharge-free ATM, please click this link. Cash withdrawals made from non-MoneyPass surcharge-free ATMs are subject to fees, but these come from the terminal owner and not from ALPHA.
How much money can I withdraw from an ATM in a day?
The daily ATM withdrawal limit is $500.
What happens when I use my card while I'm travelling abroad?
You are subject to Visa’s interchange fees when using your ALPHA card in another currency.
Can I go into overdraft?
We do not allow accounts to go into an overdraft state. Any transactions that exceed your available balance will be declined.
How long will it take to get my new ALPHA card?
You will receive your card 7-10 business days after you create your account, but we will give you a virtual card number to use right away as long as you have funded your account.
How do I activate my ALPHA Debit card?
Once you receive your ALPHA Debit Card, simply call the number on the back of your card to activate and get your PIN.
How do I change my PIN?
Please contact customer service via firstname.lastname@example.org or via the support options in the app or website.
What if I lost or misplaced my card?
If you misplace your card, please use the app to freeze your card. If you don’t find it, you may request a replacement directly within the app.
What happens when my card is damaged or it expires?
You may order a replacement card directly through the app, and for expired cards we will send a new card approximately 30 days prior to it’s expiration date.
Where are my account and routing numbers?
You can find your account and routing numbers in the ALPHA app.
What if I'm locked out of my account?
To unlock your account, select the "Forgot your password" link at the bottom of the login screen. Submit your username in the prompt and you will then be sent an email with a link to reset your password and unlock your account.
What can I do if I see an unauthorized or fraudulent charge on my account?
Log in to your ALPHA app and freeze your card immediately. After you have suspended your card, please contact email@example.com to dispute any unauthorized charges.
What do I do if I forgot my email or Password?
There is a “Forgot Credentials” link at the login screen however you prefer to access our app.
How do I change my contact details?
You can change your contact information by selecting "My Profile & Settings" in the menu.
Can I use ALPHA without linking an external account?
Yes, ALPHA can be used without linking an external account. But in order to get a full view of your spending behavior, we highly recommend you link an additional bank account.
How do I link an external account?
You can manage your external accounts from the "All Accounts" page in the ALPHA app. We want you be able to track all of your spending; therefore, there is no limit to the amount of external accounts you can link!
What do I do if I am having trouble finding my bank, credit card or financial institution?
Try searching for the name of the issuer listed on the back of the card (e.g. "Chase", "MBNA", "Bank of America"). If this does not work, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work to resolve the issue.
Can I link foreign bank accounts?
At this point ALPHA does not support foreign bank accounts.
What do I do if I am having trouble linking an external account?
Please double-check that you are entering the exact same username and password you use when accessing your account on your institution's website. If you are entering the correct credentials and your problem persists, please contact email@example.com with the following information:

How do I unlink an account?
To unlink an account, go to the "All Accounts" page. From there you can unlink individual accounts. Please note that the account information will no longer be visible.
How much does ALPHA cost?
ALPHA is a free service.
Are there any other fees?
ALPHA does not charge you to open an account, deposit or transfer funds, or make a payment.
There are fees in special circumstances (outlined in the cardholder agreement), which include the following:
ATM withdrawals are free at any of the many MoneyPass surcharge-free ATMs in the MoneyPass network. To find a MoneyPass Surcharge-free ATM near you, click this link.
ATM fees may apply at non-MoneyPass Surcharge-free ATMs, but these are charged by the terminal owner and not ALPHA. Due to the cost we incur for international ATM withdrawals, we will charge a fee for these transactions.
How do I submit a Support Ticket?
You can submit a support ticket by clicking the "Support" in the navigation bar.
How long before I receive a response to my Support Ticket?
We will try to respond to your Support Ticket as soon as possible, typically within 24 hours.
